I posted this picture on my instagram to relay the feeling of dating a server and having opposite schedules. He is constantly working while I am trying to find time to be with him in between shifts (ex. happy hour nachos before he goes back to work at 5pm-dates, woo). The delicious sacrifices I make to be with the one I love~ This past Monday and Tuesday I worked background on a movie with Aaron Eckhart and Sarah Bolger (she’s from my guilty pleasure show – Once Upon a Time – major fangirl moment). And while it was neat to be a part of such a huge production, it was entirely too exhausting! We were outside in the Texas heat for over ten hours each day. AND we were portraying football fans in the winter of 1969…so cool. Except it was scorching and I am being sarcastic. I am thankful to have met some interesting people though. When you are moved around as a prop all day while melting in your wool sweater, you tend to bond with the neighboring sufferer. Friendships bloomed over those two days. Smelly friendships. Sunburned bonding. Dehydrated destiny.
Tomorrow, Dan and I will be prepping for another whirlwind weekend road trip. His cousin is getting married in Tyler and we are meeting up with his family to stay the one night and also celebrate his brother’s birthday. I’m pretty excited! As a couple, we haven’t really been to too many weddings together. This is pretty odd since we are going on five years of this relationship (CRAZY). Trips out of town with family are always a little exciting…the air seems lighter and everyone is there for the same purpose…road trip snacks and cruising with Daniel. Plus, I’m a sucker for a hotel stay and going out for dinner in new areas. I just love doing “couple-y” things with him and a family trip for a family wedding constitutes as “couple-y” in my book.
As for wedding attire (which is my favorite part), Daniel and I are on a bit of a financial crunch to try and save and monitor what each of us are spending. We do not by any means share our finances. We both have separate rent, bills, gas, groceries. I’m not going to lie, he makes a ton more money than I do and he spends a lot of it on me. God bless him. But to prepare ourselves for the future and when we do become a financial unit, we want to be smart now and learn to be responsible with our dollah’s- holla. Because of this awesome grown-up decision we have made, I’ll be recycling something from my closet to wear to the wedding. It’s not like it’s necessary to buy new clothes for every event, but it does make it that much more fun and exciting. I do love a challenge, especially taking something from my closet and making it new by rocking it with something that takes thought. I’ll be sure to post a picture of us being all adorably wedding-cute after this weekend is over. Praying for safe travels.
I'm Alyssa, thanks for stopping by! A few things: I enjoy laughing, making youtube videos and thrift shopping. Currently listening to "Last Night" by The Strokes. I like my coffee black and my preferred method of maxin' & relaxin' is with my husband and pup.
