It has been a good while of neglecting this space and being alive! Totally an accident, I am obviously not a blogger. Just a space taker-upper. I’m pretty good at that in most aspects of my life. I take up a lot of space. You guys should see me trying to climb out of the tiny child-size car I call the blueberry. It’s not cute.
AND, the real reason for posting today is because it is the eve of my birth- 23 years ago. This year I decided I wanted to painfully drag out the festivities for two weekends- so great for everyone helping me celebrate (wink). This past weekend, Daniel, Sean (the best friend that’s basically family) and I made the 5+ hour drive down to San Antonio for Friday and Saturday night to commemorate this important milestone in my adulthood life (HA, jk). We used my birthday as an excuse to go float the river and eat out and drink and be merry and stay in a super swanky hotel. It was the best weekend I've had in a long time! We ate yummy Mexican food (because why wouldn't you in San Antonio), listened to my "birthday soundtrack" too many times to the point where I couldn't get Iggy out of my head, and napped in plush hotel beds. We walked around the River Walk and I drank too much iced coffee. We watched terrible TV while we passed out awaiting the next day- seriously, such a necessary vacation! the only thing that would have made it better would have to be the temperature. Being from Houston I figured it wouldn't be that different but we felt like we were drinking the air.
Now for the list of humorous things that happened to us:
-On the way down, after an hour of holding out to find the perfect gas station so we could pee in peace, we finally stopped in Kyle and low and behold, that gas station was most likely the worst one on I-35. Two words: flying cockroaches. I squealed but I am pretty sure Sean did too.
-Thirty minutes into our Guadalupe float, Dan’s tube popped on a rock and while he and I came to a stop, Sean kept floating, helpless and fast. We thought he was a goner. I would have laughed at how funny he looked accept that now we were stranded in some stranger’s backyard cursing the fact that we didn’t have our cellphones. We were reunited after no help from the tube people and started over- I laughed pretty hard then.
-It poured rain on us halfway through the second-try float. We all looked like Kuzco from the Emperor’s New Groove in the scene where he is soaking wet and sad accept I was howling in laughter at how funny Sean looked floating backwards.
-They both lost their right flip-flops and we had to make a barefoot stop at an Old Navy. Again, their bad luck was my entertainment.
-We witnessed a wedding from our balcony. Cool.
-The Spurs won a game Saturday night and downtown San Antonio reacted insanely loud until two in the morning. You would have thought that Godzilla was very real and currently in the same city. Apparently honking and screaming through stopped traffic with flags, lights, and decked out fans running rampant is totally normal. I approve.
I'm Alyssa, thanks for stopping by! A few things: I enjoy laughing, making youtube videos and thrift shopping. Currently listening to "Last Night" by The Strokes. I like my coffee black and my preferred method of maxin' & relaxin' is with my husband and pup.
