Hi friends! Gonna be honest, I am obsessed with how this easy DIY turned out. Anyone can do it! No, seriously. All you’ll need are two items: a permanent fabric marker and a 3’ x 3’ piece of light colored fabric. I bought both items at the fabric store with a coupon so it was very inexpensive! It would be really easy to find something around your home or in your closet and upcycle it with this DIY as well. The options are endless!
This mud cloth DIY is multipurpose and can be used and styled so many ways. Throw it over a chair, hang it on your kitchen stove, wrap it up tight as a modern + minimal scarf, upcycle a pillow case, make it wall art, use it as a Christmas tree skirt, a table runner, OH! or use it as wrapping paper for a gift... alright, now I'm getting carried away. But hello! I mean?!?
As you’ll see in the video I came up with new patters for each line as I went. I kept the patterns simple because let's be honest, I'm no artist and DEFINITELY don't have the patience for perfection (most of the time *wink). Next, I mirrored it on the opposite side of the fabric. It's pretty fool proof - you can even come up with whatever design you want! Mine was inspired by traditional African mud cloths but definitely not as beautiful, ha! I hope you love this DIY! I've added the full pattern down below and you can save this to your desktop or your smart phone to DIY it yourself, however, don’t forget you can make this however YOU want to! I’d love to see if you guys create something similar so tag me on Instagram @alyssaleighcates if you do!
I'm Alyssa, thanks for stopping by! A few things: I enjoy laughing, making youtube videos and thrift shopping. Currently listening to "Everything Now" by Arcade Fire. I like my coffee black and my preferred method of maxin' & relaxin' is with my husband and pup.
