Unrolling our new rug...
A few weeks ago I shared my journey to finding a cheap, beautiful area rug for our new apartment. Around that time, the jute rug we chose showed up at my doorstep. Of course it arrived while I was home alone and I had to drag that SUPER heavy sucker in by myself! I easily could have waited until Daniel got home to unroll it but, yeah right. I was so ready to see it in our new space! I have to admit, when I looked at the roll in our living room, I was afraid we went a little too large - we ordered a 9' x 12', by the way. However, low and behold, I tucked it under the couch about a foot deep and it looked great! In my opinion, anyway;). It's sturdy, comfortable, bright and exactly what I wanted. I can't believe we got it for under $300! I think it's the perfect base for layering rugs, too. We were interested in buying a vintage rug but the sizing of those guys are kinda weird. We'll see if we find the perfect one to layer on top sometime down the road but even if we don't, I'm obsessed with how this one turned out!
Keep in mind we are not finished decorating & rearranging this space! In fact, Several things have changed since I took these photos about a month ago. Wow, I can't believe it's been a month!
Voila! Here is the rug Unrolled & not quite laying flat...woops.

Easy Day to Night Thrifted Fashion Look
I wore this look all day at work (yes, even the ripped shorts!) and wanted to grab a quick drink with my honey, Daniel, after work. We had groceries to make dinner for later but I wanted to spice up my look since the evening was so beautiful. Cocktail hour seemed like the perfect reason. These looks are super simple to achieve! Start with a basic vintage tee and distressed denim. You can find my DIY for the coolest distressed denim here! See my step by step guide to easily recreate this fun, easy, date night look featuring thrifted fashion.

Upcycled Vintage Paintings
I am automatically drawn to blues (sea glass blue is probably my favorite!) and this vintage inspired, "worn in" look is a great option for adding a vintage touch to a home on a budget.
This rug must have sold out right when I was editing this blog post BUT not to fear, I've linked to many other cute, pink, budget friendly rugs.
I really loved this one and it was so hard not to buy it! We definitely didn't want Marble to ruin it in any way so we decided against this beauty.
This white and grey shag rug is such an easy classic. It has that mud cloth kinda vibe but is still modern and can be easily placed in several different styled homes. Plus - SHAG. I mean, hello!
This large, woven jute rug is actually the one we've picked for our living room! It came this weekend and we are obsessed with how it turned out. Comfy, durable and light to open our space! Plus, Marble won't easily damage it with scratches, potty stains or shedding.
This navy blue and multi-colored rug from Joss & Main is such a great deal! Less than $200 for a cute, vintage style area rug? Yes, please.
Daniel and I had been shopping for an area rug for our living room for a little over a month. I looked at Overstock and Joss & Main for days, searching high and low for something that would be HUGE, cheap and durable for everyday wear and tear - plus, Marble friendly. There were so many cute, budget friendly area rugs that I wanted for our place! I began pinning left and right all the cute area rugs and sending links to Daniel to get his opinion. I was really set on a lighter rug (preferably a true vintage one), but everything I fell in love with just seemed like a terrible idea for our household. I'm kinda clumsy and Marble can't always be trusted. I've compiled some favorite "neutrals" to share with you, however, there are thousands to check out if your in the market for a budget friendly area rug that's just your style!
PS: Did you guess which one we chose?
I'm Alyssa, thanks for stopping by! A few things: I enjoy laughing, making youtube videos and thrift shopping. Currently listening to "Last Night" by The Strokes. I like my coffee black and my preferred method of maxin' & relaxin' is with my husband and pup.
